Ingredients:

1. L-Tyrosine
L-Tyrosine is an amino acid that is used in the production of neurotransmitters noradrenaline, epinephrine and dopamine; it appears to reduce stress during exposure to acute stressors (which tend to deplete noradrenaline) and may help in the prevention of stress-induced memory deficits. The amino acid tyrosine, a catecholamine precursor, is known to improve cognitive performance in young adults, especially during periods of high environmental demands. Tyrosine administration might also affect catecholamine transmission in the aging brain, thereby improving cognitive function. (1) Supplementing with l-tyrosine converts it to l-dopa, which is the initial and rate-limiting step in the biosynthesis of the catecholamines dopamine, noradrenaline and adrenaline, playing a central role in neurotransmission and hormonal actions. (2) The thyroid gland needs tyrosine to make the hormone thyroxine and the skin needs it to make melanin. Having sufficient quantities of tyrosine in the brain promotes mental clarity in dealing with stress. Supplementation with tyrosine may, under operational circumstances characterized by psychosocial and physical stress, reduce the effects of stress and fatigue during cognitive task performance. (3)

2. Lion’s Mane Mushroom (Hericium Erinaceus)
Hericium Erinaceus (Lion’s Mane) is a dietary mushroom that has been shown to significantly reduce the rate of cognitive decline in older people. (4) Lion’s Mane has been shown to be a promising cognitive enhancer, increasing mRNA expression of nerve-growth factor, decreasing anxiety, stress and depressive symptoms. (5) (6) (7) This mushroom has even been shown to increase cognitive function in individuals with cognitive impairments such as dementia. (8)

3. Alphasize® (Alpha-Glyceryl Phosphoryl Choline (A-GPC)
Alpha-GPC is a cholinergic compound that is known to be a precursor to acetylcholine and phosphatidylcholine in the body following ingestion. It is used for its properties promoting cognition and the enhancement of power output in athletes. Alpha-GPC has been shown to improve mind to muscle connection, cognitive function and decrease cognitive decline in individuals with cognitive impairments such as dementia. (9) (10) Two studies also note an acute increase in the secretion of the growth hormone post consumption. (11)

4. Bacopin® Bacopa Extract (Bacopa Monnieri)
Bacopa Monnieri is a nootropic herb that has been used in traditional medicine for longevity and cognitive enhancement. It acts as an adaptogen, antioxidant and increases the rate at which the nervous system can communicate by enhancing the growth of nerve endings, also known as dendrites. One study on Bacopin® showed a significant improvement in cognitive processes, mental control, logical memory and paired associate learning. (12) Another study showed a significantly improved speed of visual information processing, learning rate, memory consolidation and reduced state anxiety. (13) A third study demonstrated a significantly improved performance on the ‘Working Memory’ function, more specifically spatial working memory accuracy. (14)
